The Story Behind Honeymooners
Honeymooners existed long before it became a honeymoon travel agency.
It began when we started planning our own honeymoon and kept hearing the same response: what we had imagined wasn't possible. It was too ambitious. Too complicated. Too far outside the traditional way of planning a honeymoon.
We chose not to accept that answer.
Instead, we designed our own honeymoon from scratch. We traveled wearing our original wedding dress and suit through some of the destinations we had always dreamed of visiting, sharing the journey on social media along the way. What started as a deeply personal decision soon became something much bigger. Hundreds of couples reached out, telling us they wanted to experience their honeymoon the same way: thoughtfully designed around their relationship, without settling for predefined limits or standard itineraries.
Shortly afterward, life changed our plans. Joana was diagnosed with cancer.
The months that followed were filled with treatment, uncertainty, and a forced pause that reshaped our priorities. When recovery finally came, it brought something even more valuable: the certainty that time is finite, moments matter, and the experiences we choose to share with the people we love are never ordinary.
In May 2021, we officially launched Honeymooners as a honeymoon travel agency dedicated exclusively to designing personalized honeymoons.
During our first three days, we received more than 2,500 honeymoon inquiries. What that response revealed was more than demand. It revealed a need. Couples weren't simply looking for someone to book flights and hotels. They were looking for someone who genuinely understood the significance of their honeymoon and would treat it with the care it deserved.
That need has never been limited to one country. Today, Honeymooners serves couples in Portugal, the United States, and Brazil. The geography changes. The way we design and care for every honeymoon does not.
There has been one guiding principle behind everything we have done ever since: never accept impossible as the automatic answer, and treat every honeymoon as if it were truly one of a kind. Because it is.
